Departing from the picturesque town of San Martin de los Andes in the morning, your hiking adventure will commence at the base of the volcano, starting from the park ranger’s office in Puerto Canoa, situated along the tranquil shores of Lake Huechulafquen. The trail is thoughtfully marked, leading you across a radales trees-covered pampa. It then smoothly transitions into a gradual path through a captivating forest of cohiues and araucarias. After two hours of traversing this natural wonderland, you’ll reach a challenging pass, offering you passage through an area blanketed with old volcanic slag and overgrown vegetation. At the conclusion of the forest trail, you’ll encounter a perfect view of the hanging glacier on the volcano’s south slope. After a well-deserved break and a hearty lunch, it’s time to return to the base and continue the travel back towards the enchanting San Martin de los Andes.

This is a physically demanding hike, lasting several hours, heading through rugged terrain with steep slopes. However, this trek doesn’t involve technical difficulties and offers a rewarding payoff.

Today you’ll travel from San Martin de Los Andes up to Bariloche, as you set out on the iconic 7 Lakes route, also known as Route 40.

One of your stops will be at Lake Machonico, a unique body of water known for its tranquil and serene environment, perfect for activities like kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. You’ll paddle across the lake to reach the mouth of the Hermoso River, one of the most picturesque rivers in the region, and then head upstream to Lake Pichi Machonico.

After exploring this secluded mountain-framed lake, you’ll make your way to its northern tip, where a sandy beach accessible only by water awaits you. Here, you can relish the natural beauty, have lunch, or enjoy a snack depending on the time of day. If the weather permits, you can take a refreshing swim in the lake.

To return, you’ll gently float downstream with the current of the Hermoso River back to Lake Machonico.

Following your kayaking adventure, you’ll continue your journey along the 7 Lakes Route, passing through the charming town of Villa La Angostura.

In the early morning, you’ll set off for Los Glaciares National Park, where you’ll have the opportunity to marvel at the magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier.

This exceptional glacier is celebrated for its remarkable cyclical patterns of growth and retreat, which have contributed to its status as one of the largest and most well-preserved glaciers on the planet. Remarkably, it continues to advance, displaying its awe-inspiring beauty.

The adventure begins at “Bajo de las Sombras” port near El Calafate, Argentina. You’ll board a small ferry for an upclose view of Glacier Perito Moreno’s south face. Your experienced guides will then lead you as you walk along the moraine, taking in the different panoramic views of the glacier and the surrounding woodlands. Then, equipped with crampons and harnesses, you’ll embark on an incredible ice trek. Here, you’ll explore the vastness and unique features of one of the world’s most extraordinary glaciers. The guides will provide insights into the ice and its environment while you appreciate the glacier’s dimensions and the surrounding mountain vistas, including Dos Picos, Pietrobelli, and Cervantes hills. During the ice trek, you’ll encounter remarkable ice features like massive moulins, crevasses, caves, and the unparalleled experience of being within the heart of the glacier.

After the ice trek, you’ll return to the shelter and board the ship for a closer view of the glacier’s south face. The entire activity lasts for approximately 12 hours.

Kindly note that engaging in this adventure necessitates a considerable amount of physical effort, for both wooded areas and the uneven yet secure surface of the glacier. Additionally, it’s important to acknowledge that the local organizer has established a general age limit for this tour, with the maximum age requirement being 50 years old. Today, you’ll set out to spend an exciting day at the renowned Estancia Cristina, nestled within the heart of Glaciers National Park. This remote and enchanting ranch can only be reached by boat and is surrounded by more than 3,000 square miles of untamed Patagonian wilderness. You’ll delve into a 30-mile journey across the azure waters of Lago Argentino, filled with massive icebergs calving off dozens of glaciers that spill into the lake. Estancia Cristina property it’s a place to enjoy and contemplate the wild Patagonia.

Upon reaching Estancia Cristina, you’ll embark on a trek through the semi-arid ecotone, passing by the Los Perros waterfall and exploring the valley surrounding the ranch. As you ascend through ñire forests, you’ll arrive at a vantage point that provides sweeping vistas extending from Lake Argentino to Lake Pearson.

Following the hike, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the ‘Costumbrista’ Museum. Housed in an old shearing shed, here you can delve into the pioneering history and adventures of the Masters family in Patagonia. As you bid farewell to El Calafate, you’ll continue towards La Leona River, one of the most scenic waterways in the Patagonian steppe. Here, you’ll set out on a kayaking adventure that not only offers breathtaking natural beauty but also unveils geological marvels. Fed by the meltwater from the Andes glaciers, the river provides a tranquil route for your kayaking adventure. As you paddle along its peaceful waters, the surrounding wilderness will captivate your senses.

A safety briefing will be conducted, and you will be provided with the necessary equipment. The kayaking adventure starts with training on river safety and paddling techniques. After practicing safety and rescue maneuvers, the group begins the kayak journey, guided by instructors.

At Cerro Fortaleza, you’ll stop for lunch. Refuelled and raring to go, you’ll then embark on an amazing trek up Cerro Los Hornos, one of the oldest geological formations in the Patagonia region. This hike will lead you through a landscape rich in geological wonders and fossil deposits. It’s a unique chance to immerse yourself in the history of this ancient land and witness its natural wonders up close. After a rest, you’ll hop back in your kayak to finish your adventure at Arroyo El Turbio.

You’ll begin your trek with a personal guide from El Chaltén, following the Laguna Torre trail through a dense forest and gradually ascending alongside the Fitz Roy River. Afterward, the path leads to the Cerro Torre viewpoint, offering mesmerizing panoramas of Cerro Torre’s towering spires and the surrounding landscapes.

Continuing the journey, you’ll pass through various terrains, including lenga forests, glacial moraines, and vast plains, culminating at Laguna Torre. This large lagoon often features massive icebergs from the Torre Glacier, with the majestic Cerro Torre in the distance. Your journey begins in the morning when you meet our experienced mountain guide at your hotel. Your trek starts with a steep ascent, until you reach a distinctive rocky viewpoint. The trail continues uphill alongside the Del Salto stream, eventually leading to the drainage area of Laguna Madre e Hija, onto the Poincenot Base Camp, and after crossing the Blanco River, you’ll come to the Climbers’ Base Camp.

From here, the trail ascends steeply for approximately 400 meters, until you reach your final destination Laguna de los Tres, located at the ridge of the ancient frontal moraine of the De los Tres Glacier. Here, you’ll be rewarded with an extraordinary view of the lagoon, De los Tres Glacier, Mount Fitz Roy’s granite wall, and neighboring peaks.

As you descend the moraine and follow the lagoon to its natural drainage point, you’ll discover a path leading to another remarkable viewpoint: the remote Laguna Sucia with its hanging glaciers.

After a well-deserved lunch and some relaxation, it’s time to retrace your steps and make your way back to El Chaltén.

Following your exploration in Northern and Southern Patagonia, you’ll venture into the captivating Parana Delta, a realm of subtropical rainforests consisting of numerous islands and islets. You’ll begin your day by heading out of Buenos Aires city, venturing north. Only 30 km north of Buenos Aires, Tigre lies on the Paraná Delta, one of the biggest deltas in the world. You’ll spend the morning sailing along the green labyrinth of channels and streams and the nature of its islands, as you enjoy the views of beautiful riverside villas, Victorian docks, English gardens, and traditional rowing and boating clubs.

Along the way, you’ll gain insights into the distinct lifestyle of the “isleños,” the island inhabitants, and learn about their traditions, culture, and daily routines. At midday, you’ll have time to enjoy a delicious lunch in a restaurant in one of the islands (not included).

Following the sailing, you’ll return to the Marina port and continue the tour on land. On your way back, you’ll also come across elegant residences nestled in the neighborhoods of the northern suburbs. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the impressive cathedral in the San Isidro neighborhood!
