In the afternoon, join our local guide to discover the southern region of Buenos Aires, an area steeped in history, culture, and eccentricities. You’ll pass by the renowned 9 de Julio Avenue, the widest avenue in the world; the Plaza de Mayo, the epicenter of political events; Casa Rosada, and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Explore the colorful neighborhood of La Boca, the birthplace of Tango, where you’ll find artists performing on the streets and tango-related memorabilia around every corner. Wander through the cobblestone streets of San Telmo, famous for its antique shops, colonial buildings, and the historic food market, dating back to 1897. Salta is an enchanting city that has successfully preserved its distinctive Hispanic ambiance, setting it apart from other Argentine urban centers. It boasts an abundance of colonial-style houses and churches that grace its streets, framed by the magnificent backdrop of the surrounding mountains. Look out for the door carved by indigenous artists in 1762!
Additionally, you’ll get to visit the Museum of High-Altitude Archeology (Museo de Arqueología de Alta Montaña, or MAAM), which houses three remarkably preserved mummified bodies dating back to Inca times, approximately 500 years ago. Here, you’ll delve into the intriguing history of the Llullaillaco Volcano expedition where the mummies were found.

Following breakfast at your hotel, our local guide will drive you to an extraordinary archeological site known as Pukara de Tilcara, one of the 22 archeological sites in the region and the only one accessible to tourists since the early 1940s. The Pucará de Tilcara is a pre-Hispanic Inca settlement, with its origins dating all the way back to the 1400s. Today, Pukara de Tilcara stands as a place where you can delve into the rich history of the Andes region and relish breathtaking views of the cacti forest and birdlife.
Later in the day, you will journey to the town of Uquía, and from there, you will continue your exploration by passing through the town of Humahuaca en route to your next destination: “El Hornocal”. Situated 25 kilometers / 16 miles from the city of Humahuaca in the province of Jujuy, the Hornocal forms a striking and colorful mountain range. It’s often referred to as the 13-color mountain, reaching an impressive altitude of 4,761 meters (15,620 feet) above sea level.
Look out for the prominent limestone formation known as Yacoraite, which stretches from Salta, Argentina, through the Argentine Quebrada de Humahuaca, and onward to the Bolivian Altiplano and Peru.

Today, your northwest journey unfolds as you return from Cafayate to the provincial capital of Salta. During this picturesque 4-hour drive, you’ll pass through a diverse range of superb landscapes, marking the transition from the elevated Calchaquí Valley to the vibrant city of Salta.
Your first stop will be at the natural wonder of Quebrada de las Conchas, or “The Shell Gorge.”. The striking beauty of this deep red landscape is matched only by its geological significance, with the exposed strata revealing the history of the Andes’ formation over 220 million years, offering numerous opportunities for you to take in the breathtaking scenery at designated viewpoints.
You’ll then continue to your second stop at La Yesera where you’ll set out on an exciting hike. These mounds of sandstone, light-colored, predominantly white and shades of grey are the product of wind and fluvial erosion of different eras from as far back as 13 million years ago to -most recently- 5 million years ago.
After traversing this astonishing canyon and La Yesera, you’ll make a last stop at the Valley area for refreshments to finally continue your drive towards the city of Salta.

Today, you’ll explore the Argentine Falls, a natural wonder nestled within the boundaries of the Iguazú National Park. This extraordinary site boasts over 275 cascades along cliffs and islets, accessible through various well-laid path circuits.
Once inside the park, you’ll board the ecological train, which provides convenient access to the Falls’ different circuits. The specific route may be subject to park conditions, but one highlight is a visit to the Upper Circuit. This Trail offers a 1750-meter-long path with stunning panoramic views of the Iguazú Falls and the Iguazú River Delta. It’s an easy, flat trail that allows you to enjoy the native flora, listen to the local birds, and spot wildlife like caí monkeys and coatis.
After that, you’ll visit the Lower Circuit, which provides a sweeping view of the waterfalls in the area, including Salto Bossetti and Dos Hermanas. You can even stand under the spray of these falls and enjoy the emerald colors of the subtropical rainforest, where butterflies and birds add to the enchanting atmosphere.
The highlight of the tour is the Devil’s Throat trail, which leads to a main balcony offering an incredible view of the most powerful waterfall in the park, known as Garganta del Diablo or Devil’s Throat. This 2.2 km (1.3 miles) walkway is easy, and it’s the perfect place to capture breathtaking photos or simply admire the landscape.

On your second full day in Iguazú, you’ll begin by venturing into the Brazilian side, offering the possibility to appreciate the falls from a different perspective. Your journey will include crossing the border via the Tancredo Neves International Bridge, located approximately 20 km away from Puerto Iguazú.
Once in the Park, you can see a panoramic view of the waterfalls setting that form the Iguazú Falls. Along the way, you will also stop to contemplate the main viewpoints that allow a closer view of some waterfalls. Towards the end of the path is the access to the Devil’s Throat, the most dazzling of the waterfalls, approximately 90 meters high. On the walk, be sure to look out for the beautiful wildlife and colorful plants along the way.
In the afternoon, you’ll leave the Falls for a jawdropping experience exploring La Lorenza Reserve. The calm waters of the Urugua-i River provide an ideal setting for kayaking, offering a unique perspective of the surrounding forest and the opportunity to immerse in the sights and sounds of nature. Here, you’ll witness the flow of the second largest river in South America, the Paraná River.
After a 2.5-mile kayaking excursion, you may take a refreshing swim in the river. Make sure you save energy for a light 45-minute forest walk, culminating at a riverfront deck with a picturesque view and a delicious local appetizer.
