Requirements for entering Brazil

Entry to Brazil from Abroad

It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party are in possession of all necessary travel and health documents, and comply with any other immigration requirements before traveling.

Passport requirements

  • With two empty pages available.
  • Expiration date: must be valid at the moment of travel.

Visa requirements

  • Tourist visa:Effective April 10, 2025— nationals of Australia, Canada, Mexico, and the United States are required to obtain an eVisa to enter Brazil. Applies to tourism, business, sports, or cultural events. Travelers are advised to:
    • Apply Early: Start your eVisa application at least two months before traveling to avoid delays.
    • Prepare Copies: Print and carry two copies of your eVisa.
    • Application Process: Apply for the eVisa through the official Government website.
    • The eVisa is required for each traveler, including infants and children. Applications can be individual or for a family (1–10 people).

    • Passengers in transit do not require a visa.

Return or onward ticket

  • Present a valid return ticket.

Yellow fever vaccine

  • Not required to enter the country.
  • Vaccine is recommended for travelers ≥9 months old going to the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Distrito Federal (including the capital city, Brasília), Espírito Santo, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro (including the city of Rio de Janeiro and all coastal islands), Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Roraima, Santa Catarina, São Paulo (including the city of São Paulo and all coastal islands), Tocantins, and designated areas of Bahia; vaccination is also recommended for travelers going to Iguaçu Falls.
  • It must be administered at least 10 days before arrival and recorded on the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP).
  • Vaccine is not recommended for travel limited to any areas not listed above, including the cities of Fortaleza and Recife.
Recommended

  • A Travel Medical Insurance is not mandatory, but highly recommended. Coverage should include accidents, medical expenses, emergency repatriation, personal liability, and adventure activities not covered under standard insurance.
