Requirements for entering Easter Island

Entry to Rapa Nui (Easter Island) from Chile

It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party are in possession of all necessary travel and health documents, and comply with any other immigration requirements before traveling.

General Entry Requirements

Documentation

  • Passport: Must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Chile.
  • Once you pass customs on your flight check-in day to enter Rapa Nui, the police will provide another PDI slip (tourist card) specifically for Rapa Nui. This document may be requested by a PDI agent either when boarding the flight or upon arrival on the island. (Please keep your original toursit card until the end of your trip.)

Before entering:

  • Complete the Single Entry Form (FUI): This form must be submitted online from 21 days prior to your arrival until your boarding time.
  • You will receive a copy by email, which must be presented during the immigration process at Santiago airport.
  • If you make a mistake on the form, you can simply complete a new one.
  • Present a round-trip ticket: A round-trip ticket with a maximum stay of 30 days (including arrival and departure dates) is required.
  • Accommodation booking: You must indicate a valid reservation at accommodation registered with SERNATUR in the entry form. You can present your reservation and its number from your online travel itinerary during immigration.

Upon Entry to Rapa Nui

  • Rapa Nui National Park: Entry to the park is only permitted with a certified local guide.
  • You must present a Rapa Nui National Park ticket, purchased online (this ticket will be handed locally by your guide).
  • The ticket is valid for 10 consecutive days.

Prohibited Items:

  • Honey and honey-based products are not allowed to enter Rapa Nui. (More info here)
  • Rocks, corals, fruits, and vegetables must not be removed or brought back from Rapa Nui.

Respect Wildlife:

  • Do not touch or feed marine fauna, especially sea turtles.

Recommended (Not Mandatory)

Travel Medical Insurance: Though not required for entry, we highly recommend that all travelers purchase travel insurance that covers:

  • Medical expenses
  • Personal accidents
  • Emergency evacuation by plane
  • Emergency repatriation
  • Personal liability
  • Adventure activities, if applicable
